In our three-day workshop, dancers will refine technique after the holidays, as well as prepare for summer intensive auditions and more!
This Winter Intensive program is based on our Pre-Professional Training Program. Dancers will train with our esteemed faculty and guest faculty, taking 4 classes per day: Technique, Pointe, Variations/Partnering, and Modern/Contemporary as well as audition readiness seminars and a mock audition with performance notes from current and retired Professionals in the field.
The program is for Intermediate/Advanced dancers with a minimum of five years of consecutive ballet training and two years on pointe.
Solid Color leotard, Pink tights, skirts optional, ballet and pointe shoes.
Dancers may wear black tights for modern and Choreo/Lab

Nikki Hefko, Ballet, Pointe/Variations, Audition Prep
Owner and artistic director Nikki Hefko is a 2017-18 School of American Ballet National Visiting Fellow and an American Ballet Theatre® Certified Teacher in levels Pre-Primary through 7 of the ABT® National Teacher Training Curriculum. Previously a full time faculty member at Dance Theatre of Harlem School , she was also a faculty member, company teacher and summer intensive director at Brooklyn Ballet and a ballet instructor at The Joffrey Ballet School NY. Ms. Hefko has trained, mentored, and coached students now in prominent schools and companies including, New York City Ballet, The Juilliard School, Charlotte Ballet, Carolina Ballet, School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, The Rock School for Dance Education, State University of New York at Purchase, and Kansas City Ballet. She travels frequently as a choreographer and guest instructor nation wide. In addition to her work at New Orleans School of Ballet, Nikki is an adjunct lecturer in the Theatre and Dance Department at Tulane University, ballet instructor at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and a Board Member with the Junior Philharmonic Society of New Orleans.
Lucia Kuimova-Pettigrew, Ballet, Pointe/Variations
Kuimova-Pettigrew received her ballet training in Perm, Russia. She earned her Masters in Choreography and Method of Teaching from Perm State University in Russia. She toured extensively as a principal dancer with the Russian Ballet. For 13 years, she was a full-time faculty member of the Pacific Northwest Ballet School in Seattle Washington. For nearly a decade, Lucia has been on the world renowned faculty of the International Summer School of the American Academy of Ballet in New York with fellow staff members from Royal Ballet of London, Paris Opera Ballet School, National Ballet of Canada, South African National Ballet, New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. We are so fortunate to have Mrs. Lucia join our staff. She will no doubt enrich the lives of our dancers!!!!
Edward Spots, Ballet, Partnering, Choreo/Lab
New Orleans native Edward Spots is a renowned dancer, choreographer and actor. Spots began his dance training with Baderinwa Rolland “Mama” at the very first New Orleans Charter Middle School. He has trained extensively, from NOCCA and New Orleans NORD Centers as a young dancer, to the Walnut Hill School for the Fine Arts, The Joffrey Ballet School in New York, and the Washington School for Ballet in the District of Columbia. In 2010 he entered the Ailey School as a student, ultimately becoming part of the Ailey II Company where he performed and taught domestically and internationally in more than eight countries. He has danced with Urban Ballet Theatre, New Orleans Ballet Theatre, Civic Scranton Ballet, Delaware Dance Company, and Marigny Opera Ballet, and has been featured in numerous commercials and television shows. He teaches modern and ballet at New Orleans School of Ballet.
Mari Meade, Contemporary, Choreo/Lab
Mari is a NYC-based artist born in California and raised outside New Orleans. In 2009, she relocated to NYC as a recipient of the Kenan Fellowship at Lincoln Center Education and founded Mari Meade Dance Collective (MMDC). Meade was awarded the 2017 University of North Carolina School of the Arts Choreographic Institute Development Residency, was selected for Doug Varone’s Devices: Choreographic Intensive and Mentorship, and was an Artist in Residence at Chez Bushwick (NYC) and Lake Studios Berlin (Germany). Currently, Meade is Triskelion Art’s 2018 Artist in Residence. She has been selected to participate in DEEP (Dancer’s Economic Empowerment Program) at Gibney Dance and will be choreographing a new work on young artists through Amalgamate Dance Company’s Guest Artist Series. An excerpt of Meade’s newest work, dialogue, was the winner of Spoke the Hub’s Winter Follies and was one of ten finalists at McCallum Theatre’s Choreography Festival in 2017. Fall 2018, Mari choreographed a work on dancers of New York City Ballet as part of the New York Choreographic Institute. Her company, MMDC, has shown work nationally and internationally.
Gretchen Erickson, Contemporary, Choreo/Lab
Gretchen Erickson is a dancer, teacher and choreographer in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a Leverhulme Trust Scholar, Erickson completed a Master of Dance Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London, UK. She toured throughout England and Europe with Transitions Dance Company performing works by Bawren Tavaziva, Zoi Dimitriou, and Miguel Pereira. Additionally she trained in the BFA program at New World School of the Arts, Joffrey Ballet-New York, and Louisiana Dance Theatre. Erickson currently teaches at New Orleans School of Ballet while dancing and choreographing for the Marigny Opera Ballet.
